Pioneer - How did the vision of KHOM begin? (2016-2019)

History and Vision

KASIH House of Mission (KHOM) was founded in March 2016 by two sisters, Lavinia Antoine and Alicia Antoine who were born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The two sisters, Lavinia and Alicia, are children of full-time

Catholic lay missionaries Jude and Veronica Antoine and had grown up in a lifestyle of mission and evangelization internationally.

KHOM was initially known as KASIH Ministry, a Catholic young adults ministry based in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It began after a desire to get involved in mission and evangelisation following World Youth Day in Poland in 2016.

From 2016 to 2018, KASIH Ministry focused on evangelisation through bringing about renewal and personal conversion in the lives of young Catholic adults through music ministry, worship, preaching, teaching, and creativity. In 2019, Lavinia and Alicia Antoine stepped out in full-time ministry as Catholic lay missionaries with a vision of raising many other young adults to respond to God’s call over their lives. This journey led KASIH Ministry to evolve into KASIH HOUSE OF MISSION (KHOM), dedicated to forming and mobilizing young Catholics for mission work worldwide.

Pilot – How did KHOM grow to become a mission movement? (2019-2021)

Following a nine-month period of discernment and attentive listening to the voice of God, Lavinia and Alicia heard specifics from God for each step of setting up the mission. In 2020, the first step was pioneering an online School of Discipleship called CROSSROAD. This school gave KHOM access to 41 different countries worldwide online. Participants for CROSSROAD included laity, religious and priests. Through CROSSROAD, God sent them young adults with a heart for mission and evangelization – who, in turn, were trained and equipped as full-time Catholic lay missionaries through physical formation. Within a few months, KHOM started to launch and send out people on short-term missions to multiple countries. One of the pillars of KHOM that God began to fulfill was the principle of acceleration. God began to open doors greater than KHOM could imagine as they stepped out in faith to see big things in a short time. KHOM received an invitation to set up the first mission base in Slovakia, Europe. This work paved the way for establishing more mission bases, with the invitation to set up additional bases of missions in Asia, Africa and the Indian Ocean region.

Plant – How did KHOM reach global expansion? (2021-present)

As they stepped out in faith, God opened doors beyond their expectations. Within a span of 1 year, KHOM had set up a mission base to raise Catholic missionaries in the Diocese of Spiš, Slovakia –as a base for Europe. The mission base serves as a platform to raise up and mobilize full time Catholic lay missionaries for the continent to the nations beyond.

To equip the bases, God began to send them missionaries willing to let go of their career and ready to impact the world with the Gospel. The specific call was to raise missionaries in 3 continents: Europe, Asia and Africa.

All of them had left their professional careers (as architect, project manager, teacher, marketing associate, software engineer etc.) and responded to the call of God in their lives to become Catholic full time lay missionaries. All missionaries live a lifestyle of faith, depending on fully on God’s providence with no salary.

Through the mission, they saw God bringing persons specifically with a potential to impact the thousands (such as: priests, seminarians, religious and lay leaders) aligning to KHOM’s rationale.

Missionaries here engage in intensive weekly formation, community life as well as short term missions throughout Europe, Asia and Africa for retreats, seminars, leadership formations, young adult programs, discipleship schools and evangelisation training.

God is launching KHOM into the nations to partner with different Catholic alliances, movements, communities, parishes and ministries for the work of evangelisation. From big cities to rural villages and even jungles, KHOM was able to bring Jesus where He leads them. They pioneer new trails where needed, igniting fresh vision and opening more opportunities for future missions.

With a charism for preaching the Word boldly, God has opened many international platforms of retreats, conferences, rallies, and programs across many continents and countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Japan, Sweden, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Taiwan, United Kingdom, Romania, Azerbaijan, Mauritius, Tanzania, Kenya, France, Uganda, Latvia, Australia).

Presently, God is leading KHOM to the set up of the second mission base In East Asia.
